Shape Up Saturday Series: Shakeology Recipes

I’m sure you’ve heard people talking about protein shakes
after they workout.  Protein is important
to have after your workout because during your workout your muscles are
breaking down.  Having protein after your
workout helps increase the impact of exercise. 
I tend to choose my Shakeology protein shake because it’s actually the
one I’ve liked the most so far that doesn’t have all of the added stuff I don’t
need in it.  For today’s Shape Up
Saturday post I want to talk about Shakeology and then introduce some recipes!
Each serving of Shakeology packs up to 17g of protein along
with whole food nutrition from some of the most nutrient dense superfoods on
the planet.  Shakeology is a combination
of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, phytonutrients and
rare adaptogens.  Each serving
(scoop/packet depending on what you buy) contains the same nutritional value as
all of the below combined:
  • 3 Cups of romaine lettuce
  • 4 cups of raw mushrooms
  • 1 shot of wheatgrass
  • 1 bowl of exotic fruit
  • 3 raw onions
  • 7 raw carrots
  • 4cups of non-fat yogurt
  • 4 cups of red radishes
  • 4 cups of raw broccoli
  • 1 cup of peas
  • AND
  • 10 cups of cauliflower

That’s all jam packed into one shake that you drink daily
and it counts as one protein if you are doing the 21 day fix.  I love drinking it after my workout because
it feels me up and it’s really quick and easy.
Shakeology has so many other benefits than just your daily
dose of dense nutrition.  In my challenge
groups I always have my challengers asking if they have to drink the shake, now
I won’t force you to drink it every day but here are some reasons why I
definitely drink it every day.
  • Gives me natural energy
  • One snack/meal out of my day is done
  • Kills my cravings
  • Replaced my daily vitamins
  • Helped my grocery bill (even though it seems expensive to
    purchase the bulk package, but it comes out to a little over $4 a day)
  • It boosted my immune system (I don’t get as sick as often as
    I used to)
  • Made my hair and nails grow
  • Tastes delicious

Now that I’ve discussed the benefits of Shakeology let’s
move on to some recipes that I’ve uploaded onto Instagram and absolutely love!  Also, you can also use this in recipes with food but I need to test those out before I share them on here.  I know that they have a no bake Tiramisu cookie recipe with shakeology so I will defintiely be trying that!
3/4 Cup of Chilled Coffee
1 Cup of Ice
1/4 Cup of Nonfat Milk
1 tsp of Cinnamon
1 Scoop of Vanilla Shakeology
Just mix it all in the blender!

1 Red

1 Scoop of Strawberry Shakeology
1 Banana (If you’re doing the 21 day fix one banana counts as 2 purple containers)
3/4 Water
2 Ice Cubes
Just blend it all together
For my 21DF’ers

1 Red
2 Purple

1 Cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 cup of Ice
1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
! tbsp Chopped Raw Pecans
1/2 tsp Pure Caramel Extract
Just blend it all together!

1 Red
1/2 Yellow
1/2 Blue

1/2 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
1 Scoop Vanilla Shakeology
2 Ice Cubes
