Well, the time has come. I’m actually writing a post about my New Year’s Resolutions.  I don’t think I’ve ever written a post like this because I don’t really believe in the whole New Year’s resolutions thing.  I believe that you should be your best and make goals every single day and throughout the year.  However, this year is a little different.  A lot of things happened in 2017 that made me realize I’m growing up and that life is too short.  My fiancé and I lost 2 people last year who were our age.  It was a really sad time because it was one right after the other but it was also an eye opener that I’ve been living life the wrong way.  I work a lot and almost never take time to myself. I’ve become part of the typical “rat race” of the everyday “9-5” job.  I feel like there is something missing in life because the fiancé and I just go to work every day and then I blog on the weekends but we don’t really do anything besides that.  I’ve become such a homebody that I really hate leaving the apartment.  I have a lot of goals for this next year, on top of actually having a life haha.
Consolidate Student Loans
This is something that I have been putting off like crazy.  So many people have told me I need to do this because I have what used to be Sallie Mae loans.  If you know anything about Sallie Mae or Navient you know that they are a bunch of thieves.  It’ll take you forever to pay off your loans while they make millions off of students in interest.  I have been starting to look into different ways of consolidating, however I decided that I will officially do it in the New Year when I’m not so distracted by the holidays and just life in general.
Take Control of my Health
If you stay tuned and come back tomorrow to read my blog you’ll know more of what’s going on health wise. I’ve been talking about health issues since November so I finally decided to talk about it tomorrow.  I have decided to change my diet for health reasons.  I will be doing the Keto Diet.  I’m really not looking forward to it because I’ve heard some horror stories of actually getting your body into the state of ketosis and how hard it is to maintain. I also want to go and get a second opinion.  I know it’s been over 10 years, but I feel like I want to see another doctor just to see what they think of what’s going on since what happened in November was out of the ordinary.
Save for a House
Every year the apartment complex changes management companies.  Each time this happens they raise the rent to the percentage max that they can in NJ.  Currently we are not that far away from paying for a mortgage and I feel like a house would be way more worth it, obviously.  We would have a home and a place for the dogs because the apartment is too small for them.  We are also starting to outgrow our apartment with all of the stuff we currently have. We have started looking and I’ve already gone through the preapproval process but after talking about it some more, we would like to save a little bit more so that we are still able to live comfortably.  I mean a girl’s gotta have a budget for shoes lol.  No, but for real we are planning on buying a fixer upper since the fiancé does carpentry for a living.  He’s honestly a jack of all trades because he’s a mechanic as well, but anything that is mechanical or technological he can do.  At least I know that everything will always be fixed haha!
Save for the Wedding
After we buy the house I think we will start talking more about what we are doing with this wedding business.  We haven’t really sat down and talked about it because we are paying for it on our own and we have a small budget, but we’d rather buy a house first.  We know we are
going to get married, but doing the whole wedding thing isn’t in our budget just yet.  I know that usually the bride starts planning right after she gets engaged but unfortunately we just don’t have the money for it yet.
Less time blogging, more time with friends and family.
I’m basically blogging whenever I have free time.  Sundays are spent taking blogging pictures and then editing them.  I’m almost always
on Instagram trying to build a following because it’s so extremely hard to grow since it’s such a saturated market of fashion bloggers out there.  I’ve gone completely bonkers trying to grow my blog that I’ve sacrificed a lot of time. The amount of time that I have spent on my blog has actually discouraged me a little bit because I’ve been working so hard and I haven’t really grown as much as other people.  I’ve come to terms with not being a big time blogger.  I’m not going to stop blogging any time soon, but I am going to step back a little bit.  I’ve been starting to compare myself to other people and whenever I start doing that I start beating myself up really bad.  I’ve worked really hard on
this blog with not much to show for it and lately my heart just hasn’t been in it and I don’t want to start hating my blog because this is my creative outlet and it is where I can have a voice.  That’s why I think for the first few months of 2018 I may not have as many posts going
live, but I’m not going to completely stop.
Changing up my Fashion a Bit
I’ve noticed that my fashion hasn’t been that exciting lately.  It’s been pretty boring and I won’t even feel bad if you agree with this statement because it’s true haha.  I decided I’m going to start having more fun with my fashion and incorporating a little more of myself.  I feel like I’ve been trying so hard to be someone I’m not.  I think that’s why I’ve had the feelings I’ve had in my previous resolution.  I was trying so hard to be just like the other bloggers that I realized I was just blending in instead of standing out.  I wanted to be like the big bloggers and I started wearing the things they were wearing and I wasn’t myself anymore.  My style is different everyday and I feel like my blog doesn’t show that anymore. That’s why in 2018 I’m going to shake it up and incorporate more of me into the blog.  I’m still going to be wearing trendy pieces, but I’m going to incorporate a little more of myself.
Basically, 2018 is going to be the year that I start over and actually have resolutions.  I never do the New Year’s resolution thing, but this year is a little different.  I’m not sure why, but it’s just what I’ve decided.  Happy New Year everyone and I hope this year brings y’all lots of success, love, happiness, and above all good health!
