First outfit post:
Dress: Banana Republic (on sale last year) // Jacket: Shein // Shoes: Lasocki (Polish brand) // Tights: Berkshire Legs
Second outfit post:
Two piece: Shein // Shoes: Old Navy (super old, similar)
This past weekend when the fiance and I were taking blogging pictures, we were trying to take pictures in a little town called Chester, NJ, but since it was Sunday and beautiful out, it was really tough finding parking. We kept driving and looking for a place to turn around because we weren’t going to get any good pictures when we passed by the big red doors that I took pictures at the beginning of this year. The last picture in this post (above) was my most popular photo on Instagram. It had the most likes, which was record breaking for this year, I haven’t even gotten halfway to that amount of likes this year. So, the fiance and I decided to do a little bit of an experiment. Since the last picture with the double red doors did so well on my Insta, I’m going to post another one, but with a completely different outfit. Which brings me to this question…
Is it the location?
When I started to look at all of my Instagram analytics, I noticed that a lot of locations that had red or even outfits that had red in them did extremely well in the like department. Those pictures along with my before and afters from Keto were also among the top liked posts. Out of curiosity I’m posting one of these photos to see if it really does as well as the last one did because then it really isn’t about my fashion at all, it’s about the location, and the photo as a whole. With Generation Social Media, it’s not surprising that it’s about the picture, and not the content. That’s why I wanted to focus a lot on my blog this year because this blog is my baby. The social media platforms are just a way of getting my name out there so that I can attract more readers.
**Please note that I received the jacket (Shein) and tights (Berkshire Legs) as a review, however all opinions are my own.
Now, let’s linkup!
xoxo Monica

How interesting. I can see that an impactful picture gets more likes – you red door photos are striking! I would love to know the key ingredients to get a click through…

Cute camo jacket! It such a classic pattern and it pairs so well with your black dress. This will be an interesting experiment! I know red is a very eye catching color and personally, when I see brighter colors I am attracted to it so perhaps your theory rings true.

Monica, these photos are amazing! I am loving the black dress with fishnets and camo jacket. So totally my style! I was actually thinking of wearing fishnets with denim shorts and a camo sweatshirt today!
I am totally interested to see what results you find from this little experiment. Red always grabs the human eye, I think, because it is so bold and powerful. I am always attracted to the outfits, but the red door definitely makes them pop and catches your attention immediately. Plus red is your color whether you are wearing it or standing in front of it! I have always been fascinated by the analytics and meanings behind colors and human psychology!

Great photos! Love the red door. Makes me think I really need to start taking pictures somewhere other than on the street in front of my house, lol!

I think it’s a combination of the red dress with the red doors. The location doesn’t look near as striking with the black outfit, for whatever reason. Love that black dress.

I did hear once that the brighter photos do better on Pinterest…so it’d make sense it’s the same on all social media!!
I do love that red dress…you look amazing in it!

I’ve wondered about backgrounds, myself. I hope you report back. I’ve tackled me yard–ha, ha!–now need to venture out.

That’s funny—two out of my top 5 Instagram posts over the last year started with the words “spoiler alert”! I think I should use that more often! 😉

Another blogger did a similar analysis last week and looked at other people’s insta aswell. She found any bright colour brought more likes.
