Top: I honestly can’t remember but here’s a graphic tee // Skirt: Banana Republic (old, similar) // Bag: Embrazio // Shoes: UGG (old, similar here)
Y’all, it’s my birthday week! My birthday is on Friday and I’m turning 31. I must say, 30 was definitely good to me. I’m excited to see what 31 brings me. I’m also excited because I decided that this year I would get myself something for my birthday. I’m getting two of my tattoos covered up. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting them covered up or lasered off, but I heard that having them taken off is extremely painful and the healing process is even worse along with having the possibility of it leaving a really bad scar. I decided to try one last thing to cover them up and see how it goes. I have one on my wrist which is already a cover up but I was young and stupid and didn’t research the tattoo artist to see if he was any good at cover ups and it came out really bad. There’s one on my ankle that was done extremely poorly and I’m getting that covered up as well because it just doesn’t look nice. I love the meaning behind the one on my ankle but the execution of the art was done poorly. I will definitely do a post about the before and afters and the importance of researching your tattoo artist and being really sure on what you want. Most of the time it pays to pay top dollar (except for one place near me that charges an insane amount of money) and to really do your research.
Anyway, so just in case you haven’t been following me for a little bit, I love love love this tshirt. Zef stands for another way of saying cool, but cool for the outcasts. There’s this band called Die Antwoord and they are extremely weird (just google image them), and I love their music, along with their attitude of saying f*** society, and the normal standards. They don’t care what people think of the way they look and I love that about them. Yea, they may be weird to some, but I love their philosophy behind it. Stay tuned for Friday’s birthday post because I have a few things in store, along with a linkup with some fellow bloggers! For now though, check out your weekly Wednesday linkup.

I hope you have a fabulous birthday and I wish you a super happy 31st year! Thanks for educating me on what Zef means, when my sons come home from college this weekend I’ll have to make sure I use it and I guarantee they will at first be shocked and then roll their eyes! Ha! You look terrific in this skirt!

Haha, it’s a south African term. If they know the band, they will definitely know what it means!

Well, that is surely a wonderful birthday present for yourself, Monica! I have some really bad tattoos from my 20’s, but since they are in places that are not visible to many people, I figure they are part of the story of my dumb youth and I will just keep them as a reminder of that! Or maybe that is just my excuse to be lazy about it! Either way, I’ll stick with my original story until I change my mind…which may or may not ever happen. I am looking forward to your Friday birthday post! Happiest of birthdays to you, my friend!

I kept telling myself it could be a reminder of being young and dumb, but these unfortunately are in places that you can see (wrist and ankle) so in order to look a little more presentable I think it’s time. The one is already a cover up, idk if I showed it to you, but it’s such a bad one. The artist told me that he could keep it the same size which I was so happy about because as much as I love sleeves and half sleeves, I just can’t with my profession. At least this way I can cover it up if needed.

I forgot to say that I am loving your outfit, too! So cool and fun!

Happy Birthday week lovely! You look fabulous in that amazing metallic skirt! Good luck with your tattoo coverups – can you design your own? I imagine you are quite artistic… xx
Jersey Girl, Texan Heart says
I have a few that I actually drew and my artist traced over them. These two however are coverups so unfortunately it’s a little different because they have the expertise of how to cover it up and what I can cover it up with so I left it in professional hands.

Fun skirt–I need a sequin one soon! Good luck with the tat removal.
Jersey Girl, Texan Heart says
I’m actually not getting it removed. That was my thought for a while, but it is too painful, so I will just be covering it up with a different one 🙂 I’m excited!

Happy birthday month/week Monica! This is an exciting time and I hope it’s been treating you well so far. I don’t have any tattoos but it sounds like what you want to do is the perfect birthday gift especially because you are doing it for you. I can’t wait to see how it looks! You look beautiful in your birthday suit because you know nothing better than a graphic tee and nothing sophisticated than a sequined skirt! I hope you are having an awesome day so far!

My birthday is actually tomorrow so you aren’t late! I will definitely post about it, because I want to spread the word to my readers about different tattoo type things.
