Who Wore It Better: Black and White Poncho & a Linkup

Poncho:  Ralph Lauren // Pants:  Ralph Lauren

I will say one thing, after being here in the Sunshine State, I’m not upset about never seeing snow again!  Since we moved, my friends have told me about a few storms they’ve had.  I do not miss that at all.  The weather here is beautiful.  It’s a little chilly for the people of Florida, but for me it’s super warm.  When your winter hits temperatures in the negatives, weather in the 50’s is basically bikini weather haha.

Anyway, obviously this outfit and series of photos were taken prior to my move.  My mom and I basically wore the same thing to show the world it doesn’t matter how old you are, fashion is for EVERYONE.  That’s the common misconception in my opinion, which is why my mom started a blog.  She wanted to show the world that you can dress yourself at any age.  Oftentimes women think to themselves that they’re too old to wear something, and then eventually they start wearing the frumpiest clothing and just look like they’ve let themselves go.  There are certain things that are more flattering than others, but this goes for women of all ages, sizes, and shapes.  What might look awesome on my mom, might look terrible on me because my body shape is completely different from hers.

When it comes to fashion, confidence is key!  I can wear the same exact outfit, but if I don’t have confidence in that outfit, I will look like I don’t match that outfit.  You can tell when someone is uncomfortable.  For example, I’ve stopped wearing the crazy amount of bodycon dresses that I wore in my early 20’s because I just don’t feel comfortable in them anymore.  I’m not saying that women in their 30’s can’t wear these dresses, all I’m saying is that I don’t feel comfortable in them anymore so I won’t look the same as I did when I was 23.  If I wore some of the super short ones I wore back then today, I’m pretty sure I’d look really awkward.

Is there a style that you haven’t tried because you think you’re too old, or your body isn’t the right size/shape?

OMG, these outfits are all kinds of fabulous! I need to go digging in my closet to see if I can recreate this look. I love it! I am so glad that you are loving the warmer weather, my friend. That kind of weather in summer is just not for me. No way! Ha. Although I am quite ready for Spring already!

Welcome to the Sunshine State, Monica! We don’t miss snow, either, but it is warmer than we’d like it right now! Another great look with you and your mom, I agree that confidence is key!

I’ve lived in California for 5+ years and don’t miss the snow one bit. An added benefit: I can drive to snow when I want it! Congrats on your move to Florida!

I totally agree with you Monica. I used to appreciate body con dresses when I was in my 20s as well but as I have grown up and my style evolved I no longer like them. You and your mom look so pretty in your matching outfits. I love the ponchos! I am glad you are settling well in Florida. That’s so awesome! I hope your week is going great and wishing you a fabulous weekend ahead!

I totally agree! If I wear something I’m not confident in, I feel off the entire time and I’m pretty sure it shows! Also, I’m jealous of your warm-weather living!!
