YOUR OWN TWIST LINKUP: SUMMER LOVING
It feels so good to be part of the Your Own Twist Linkup again! I’ve sat out on I think four of these now, and the last one I was a part of was the February Your Own Twist Linkup. If this is your first time coming here, this is a linkup that my friend Shelbee On The Edge and I started back in October of 2018. Our first YOT, was styling Halloween looks. We’ve been holding this linkup once a month ever since. However, I sadly fell off the bandwagon because of the pregnancy. I’m so incredibly happy to be back!

TODAY’S THEME
As you can see today’s theme is called Summer Loving. Whenever I hear that, I immediately think of Grease and start singing the song haha. I love the movie Grease. I like both the first and second one, but the first one is a classic. Whenever I wear red shoes and black pants I always think of Sandy when she transforms at the end of Grease. Maybe I’ll make that one of my Halloween looks this year because I bought maternity pants that are faux leather. I’m not sure if they’ll fit by October (they’re kind of a weird cut and I’m due in October haha) but I can attempt it. The location I chose to take photos at was fitting to this month’s Your Own Twist Linkup theme. When I think of older Coca Cola bottles or just the color red in general, I think of that Grease era.

BECOMING A TOURIST IN MY OWN TOWN
As most of you know, my husband and I moved to Florida at the beginning of 2019. This was due to us opening up our first family owned business. Because we’ve been so busy with running the business, we’ve only gone to a few places in the area. Well, on Sunday, I knew I wanted to take this picture with this Coca Cola bottle and I found that this was actually a gift shop that’s been here for a while. My husband and I decided to go for a little stroll around the area, because we’ve driven through downtown so many times, we never actually stopped to look at what was there. What’s so frustrating though, is because it was Sunday, most places were closed. I guess it’s because I’m so used to things being open all the time up north, that it’s just odd. This isn’t a small town either, it’s actually riddled with tourists.
It was nice to go for a walk, because even though I walk all day at our shop, I like walking because it keeps me active during pregnancy. I want to be as healthy as possible so that bebe is healthy. Especially because when those cravings hit for certain foods that aren’t that healthy, I really can’t help myself. Speaking of cravings, I’ve been craving soft serve ice cream since the first trimester, and just last week (I’m at 25 weeks currently) I had a soft serve ice cream for the first time. When I tell you it hit the spot, IT HIT THE SPOT. Apparently in this area of Florida, soft serve ice cream isn’t a thing and the only place that has it, is an all you can eat buffet.

SUPER COMFY MATERNITY WEAR
Of course, maternity wear should be comfy, but it should also be cute and fun. I bought this dress from Target, and they are currently sold out of this color, but they have another color that I really want haha. In addition, I decided to snatch up these sandals to go with this dress because I thought the pop of red would be perfect for such a casual dress. What I will say, is after a little bit of walking, and my feet getting sweaty, the sandals did make a funny noise every so often while I was walking. We did walk for a while, so that’s probably what happened, but I think just wearing these out and about are perfect.
I’m hoping to get a pedicure before bebe gets here, so I’ll wear these to the salon. The other day I attempted to paint my toes by myself with this belly and I should’ve recorded myself doing it because I’m pretty sure it was super comical watching me “paint” my toe nails. Spoiler, I painted most of my toes as well. It looks like a child did it.

LET’S MOVE ON TO THE LINKUP!
Thank you so much to those of you who have been joining in on this link up, and thank you so much to Shelbee on the Edge for putting up with me for slacking off these last several months. I’m so excited to be back and here’s to hoping that I can stick with this linkup until my due date!

Monica, my friend, I am so glad to have you back! You are looking so wonderful and I love this dress with the pops of red in your shoes and bag. Those sandals do look extremely comfortable for walking. And did you say “all you can eat soft serve buffet?” WHO DOES THAT? I would eat until I was sick! Haha. But maybe if I smoked pot first, I wouldn’t get as sick and could eat even more ice cream. LOL I am cracking at your attempt to paint your own toenails! Now is the time when going to a salon for a pedicure is absolutely deserved! Also, much of my town shuts down on Sundays, too, which is kind of annoying because that is the day that I am most likely to go out to shop and do things. Great post! Welcome back!

Thank you so much for dealing with me over these past few months. It’s been so refreshing to have friends who are supportive and you’ve given me such great advice without scaring the sh*t out of me haha. Part of the all you can eat buffet has a dessert section (omg the desserts all look so appetizing), and I was so excited for the soft serve ice cream. Of course I ate dinner too, but I really wanted the ice cream haha. As for closing on Sundays, it makes me so sad because this is a tourist area and it’s the only day we can get out and do something (our shop is open on Saturdays too). We would love to explore the area, but we just can’t. Once the baby is here, I’m going to do some exploring.

Oh my goodness, I would not ever classify any type of friendship as “dealing with you”! It is what we do for each other, share our experiences in gentle and kind ways (but always with a bit of humor) as we help each other through the harder things in life! You are going to rock this parenting thing just like you have rocked all the other things in life! Speaking of Sunday closings, I just had to rearrange my weekend plans so I could visit my fave thrift shop on Saturday because they are closed on Sunday. Booooo.

I’m so thankful this blogging thing brought our friendship! You’re seriously the best and thank you so much for understanding. That’s awesome that you were able to rearrange weekend plans but boo on them being closed on Sundays!

Thank you so much! I’ve been loving red and pops of red lately, and I felt like it would be perfect to go with the theme of this location too.
