Zaful-Confidence in a Bathing Suit

via

Bathing Suit:  Zaful // Birkenstock’s:  Zappos
Ok, so normally I wouldn’t post a picture of myself in a
bathing suit here on the blog, but I was asked to review this one from Zaful and I thought
it was a great way to start a discussion.
So far I am half way to my weight loss goal.  I have lost 15 lbs and am working on losing a
total of 30lbs because at that point I will be closer to a healthy weight for
my height.  I’ve done research and a “healthy”
weight for my height is 145.  In my
personal opinion I don’t think this is right because I would not look healthy
if I lost that much weight, especially since muscle weighs more.  So, I’m going to go by how I feel and how my
clothes fit, and my overall attitude towards my body.  By BMI standards I’m actually overweight
right now, which I don’t think is true because I’ve been feeling great and I
don’t think I look THAT bad in a bathing suit.
Which brings me to my next topic of this post; bikini
bodies.
What exactly is a bikini body?  Um, it’s a body that has a bikini on.  When did society come up with the ideal
bikini body?  I’m sorry but not everyone
can look like a Victoria’s Secret model.
Not everyone wants to look like that, and not everyone is attracted to
that body type.  Everyone has their own
opinion.   I was extremely self conscious about taking
these pictures and posting them on my blog but I knew I had to for the sake of
the review.  I told my photographer (aka
significant other) that I didn’t feel comfortable enough taking pictures of me
in a bikini at the pool in my apartment complex that I’d rather take them in my
apartment.  I’m not ready to go out in
the world because I feel like since I’m not at my goal for weight loss I’m just
not ready.
Then I saw the pictures.
I thought to myself what in the world was I so nervous
about.  I’m feeling better, and healthier
in my new body.  I may have only lost 15
lbs, but I would say that I’m making awesome progress.  My confidence is slowly coming back with each
lbs and inch I shed off, and seeing this picture on my computer made me feel
even better because I can see the progress on a full screen.
Ok, now that I’ve gotten all empowering on you, let’s talk
about the actual bathing suit since that’s the point of this post haha!
I got this bathing suit from Zaful along with some other
things (stay tuned they will be uploaded tomorrow).  I’ve been looking for a color blocked bikini
that wasn’t crazy expensive.  Have you
seen some of the designer versions that are almost $100?  Who has that kind of money to spend on a
bathing suit?  A small piece of fabric
that covers your areas so that you don’t get in trouble haha.  I know for sure I’m not about to spend that
kind of money.  With that being said I
decided to just not get one because of the pricing.  Then when I was offered to do a review for
Zaful I looked at their bathing suit section.
They have a few of these bathing suits, but I chose this one because of
the colors and because it’s strapless.
As you can see by my terrible tan lines, I need to have something
strapless when I go outside.  Want to
hear the better news?  This particular
bathing suit is only $16.49!
One thing I would recommend is this runs a little
small.  I actually purposely wanted to
get it a little more snug because I’m in the process of losing weight and if I lose
another 15 lbs this bathing suit will be perfect.  The bottoms actually fit ok, it’s just the
top that runs a little smaller.  Another
tip, when you first wash it make sure to be careful.  The black dye from the panties when I washed
it and laid it flat (I didn’t put it in the dryer although I should have) it
actually stained a little bit.  So, be
careful!
I paired this bikini with a simple pair of aviators and my
metallic copper Birkenstock’s.  I feel
like this would be the perfect pool day outfit.
I would bring along a cover up though just in case I want to run to the
store or something right afterwards.
Stay tuned for more items from Zaful on the blog tomorrow!

When I am asked to review a swimsuit, I feel the same way. I have to turn it down in fear that I don't have the ideal bikini body. But what you've shared here is an eye opener. Thank you! Sometimes, our ideals destroy our image of our own bodies and it is not good!
